Some programs are simple yet highly valuable.  Last week the Department of Transport Technology and Economics at Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) organised a bus demonstration at which students were the first in Hungary to see the prototype of the Ikarus 180e articulated electric bus.

Ikarus 180e

The 180e—first shown at Busworld 2025—is packed with cutting‑edge technology: at 18.75 metres it carries a 563 or 640 kWh battery for a range of up to 650 kilometres, and its drivetrain produces 350–375 kW and 3 500 Nm of torque. A 2‑2‑2‑2 door arrangement and capacity for 126 passengers allow rapid boarding and alighting in busy urban traffic, while Mobileye 8 Connect and Fisheye cameras provide state‑of‑the‑art safety assistance. Beyond introducing the new bus, the demonstration helped future engineers appreciate the significance of zero‑emission technology.
